SPUR's 2022 Impact Report highlights our key accomplishments over the past year. We helped pass six state bills and three ballot measures; wrote 59 briefs, papers, and letters; and hosted more than 6,800 guests at public programs.
Here are a few of the wins our work made possible:
• Our research inspired a state bill that streamlines sustainable transportation projects and another bill that automates permitting for residential solar systems.
• A coalition we spearheaded helped pass a bill to allow affordable and mixed-income housing in areas zoned for commercial use.
• We sponsored a state bill that prohibits cities from setting local minimum parking requirements near transit.
• San Francisco permanently adopted its pandemic-era Car Free JFK program, a project made possible by legislation we developed.
• Our work was the basis of a successful ballot measure to make reforms to Oakland’s government structure.
• We advocated for San José’s decision to remove parking requirements for new development citywide.
• We led a successful push for a new transit-oriented communities policy for the region.
