Michael leads SPUR’s operations, strategy, and finance functions. He has been recognized for developing efficient and effective solutions focused on impact for organizations including Tides, Inc., the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, the Department of Energy, and the United States Army. He is also a contributing author of Mastering Excellence: A Leader’s Guide to Aligning Strategy, Culture, Customer Experience, and Measures of Success.

As the founder and principal of Impact & Innovation, his nonprofit consultancy, Michael partnered with early-stage organizations addressing critical societal needs. Together, they tackled initiatives such as providing meal boxes for food-insecure families, building tiny homes for the unhoused, establishing a science center for underrepresented youth, and creating a retreat center for first responders living with PTSD.

Before joining SPUR, Michael served as chief operations officer for a)plan coaching for three years and as chief of staff for Tides Advocacy, a pro-Black nonprofit organization, for two years. Prior to that, he spent six previous years at Tides Inc., including two as chief operations officer. Earlier in his career, he dedicated more than 15 years to Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where he honed his skills as a certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, strategic planning leader, project manager, and facilitator specializing in process and performance management, measurement, and improvement.
