In 2008, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency began a $20 million infrastructure project to replace the Muni rails on Duboce and Church streets. The Duboce Triangle Neighborhood Association recognized the opportunity to better serve the needs of bicyclists, pedestrians and transit users, and to enhance the neighborhood's sense of place. The City eventually adopted their design. This successful partnership illustrates a model for large capital projects, where City agencies and communities share in the process of good planning. With landscape architects Aditya Advani and Nathan Lozier of RHAA, Peter Cohen of the DTNA and John Dennis of the Department of Public Works.
