When it opened in 1969, the Oakland Museum of California (OMCA) signaled the role arts and culture would play in the city’s future. Four decades later, an extensive renovation and expansion by Mark Cavagnero Associates reasserts this vision while respecting the museum’s landmark modernist design. Project director John Fung will elaborate. Afterward, tour goers can explore the galleries on their own until 9 p.m. or check out Art Murmur. This event is generously sponsored by the Koret Foundation.
