Special Food Day event – just added: San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) serves nearly 30,000 meals each day to students throughout the city. Growing interest in reforming the school meals program must contend with the economic and logistical challenges SFUSD faces. Come hear what it takes to serve thousands of schoolchildren five days a week as Zetta Reicker, Assistant Director of Student Nutrition Services of SFUSD, Paula Jones, Director of Food Systems for the Department of Public Health, and Teri Olle, Associate Director of Policy and Advocacy for the San Francisco Food Bank, give an overview of San Francisco’s school meals program, offer a context of other school districts in California and nationwide, and explain why it's an issue that concerns the whole city, not just students and their families.
