Achieving a Jobs/Housing Balance

Lunchtime Forum

The Bay Area is unprepared for the immense growth expected in the next 30 years due to a major imbalance between housing and jobs. Hitting a housing target of 770,000 new homes would balance the region's housing and jobs, but missing the target will push workforce housing farther out to the regional edge — with unsustainable environmental, social and economic costs. Join Peter Calthorpe, author and principal of Calthorpe Associates, to discuss the major questions facing our region’s future growth. Calthorpe will sign copies of his recent book, Urbanism in the Age of Climate Change (Island Press, 2010), following the presentation.
