Designing for the Urban Context

Lunchtime Forum

With the help of top-notch architects, a number of the Bay Area’s premiere arts and cultural organizations are creating new or expanded facilities — including SFMOMA, SFJazz, the Exploratorium and the Berkeley Art Museum/Pacific Film Archive. The project designs focus on a strong engagement with the urban context, reflecting a desire by cultural institutions to draw on the activity and energy of the street. Join Mark Cavagnero, Mark Cavagnero Associates; Marc L’Italien, EHDD; and Kelly Ishida Sloan, EHDD project manager for SF MOMA, to discuss how architecture can form connections between culture and urban life.
