This event will take place in San Jose.

San Jose’s 2040 General Plan includes ambitious targets for changing transportation patterns to include more travel by transit, bike and foot. As the city tackles implementation of the plan, new tools are emerging to inform developers and city officials about what success looks like. Walkability metrics like WalkScore, LEED-ND and State of Place™ are providing increasingly sophisticated ways to measure accessibility by foot. Dr. Mariela Alfonzo of State of Place™ and Ralph McLaughlin, assistant professor of urban and regional planning at San Jose State University, join us to look at these state-of-the-art metrics and identify what they can mean for our urban areas.
