Putting Public Life Back Into Public Space

Lunchtime Forum

Public space should invite people from all walks of life to meet and spend time together, find peaceful respite, or enjoy being "alone together.” But why does our public realm often fail to bring us together?

Gehl Architects and SF-based Gehl Studio draw on 50 years of Jan Gehl's ethnographic research methodology to make places for people. Gehl explores the relationship between built form and public life to investigate timely questions about how the public realm connects people to equity and opportunity in cities. Blending old-school ethnography with new-school technology tools, Gehl’s methods of People-First Design invites for vibrant and inclusive public life and engages all citizens where they are and as part of their everyday routine.

Join us in person for this live webinar as Gehl’s Jeff Risom discusses the tools and principles for putting public life back into public space. If you're unable to join us at the SPUR Urban Center, sign up now to view from your own computer. Please be advised that SPUR will share the registration list with the Knight Foundation.
