California is currently home to no National Heritage Areas (NHAs) — places recognized by the National Park Service where “historic, cultural and natural resources combine to form cohesive, nationally important landscapes” — but a team of local leaders is organizing a new initiative to convince Congress to declare Santa Clara County as the first NHA in the state.
