Oakland was one of the first cities to create a food vending program that permitted food trucks on private property and pushcarts on sidewalks, and the city later permitted mobile food for “group sites” to enable successful events like Bites Off Broadway and the renowned Off the Grid event at the Oakland Museum of California.
