The famed urbanist Jane Jacobs once said, “I realized I was engaged in studying the ecology of cities.” Can a consideration of social, economic and environmental systems offer a new planning paradigm for how we view cities? Why is empathy such an important component of both design-thinking and recognizing cities as complex ecosystems? What are we learning from this shift in thinking as we observe some of the world’s most vibrant, yet challenged, cities? Join us as we dive deep into these questions and more.
