SPUR strongly supports MTC evolving its role in prioritizing investments, promoting supportive land uses, and coordinated project delivery for regional rail investments in the Bay Area. We also think that the time is right for MTC to take a leadership role in project delivery. There are many conversations happening throughout the region about how to improve project delivery and it is important for MTC to bring them together to identify shared solutions. There is a lot on the line. With over $300 billion transportation project needs, there is the potential to have many tens of billions of dollars of cost overruns. If we could reduce costs by 10%, that puts $30 billion back into our communities.
