California school districts spend hundreds of millions of dollars purchasing food to serve students each year. By harnessing this purchasing power school districts can drive demand for food produced in a way that supports the health and wellbeing of people, animals and the planet. SPUR supports providing incentive funds to the 14 school districts participating in the Good Food Purchasing Program, who serve over 940,000 students, which would allow changes to food purchasing that would decrease carbon emissions, water use and pesticide use.
