Nurturing change on Central Market Street

Lunchtime Forum

Join John Peterson of Public Architecture and Luis Cancel from the San Francisco Arts Commission to learn about their partnership and efforts to revitalize Central Market Street. The ARTery Project will help transform Market Street into a nationally-celebrated cultural destination. The project’s signature component, Lights on Market Street, features three temporary site-specific light installations. In addition, the two organizations are part of a collaborative effort to support arts organizations seeking to move into the district’s vacant buildings by providing pro bono design services through The 1% program. The discussion will cover a variety of other strategies to activate Central Market Street--from Art in Storefronts, to HOK’s proposal to adaptively reuse JCDecaux kiosks, and plans for PG&E’s Mission Street Sub-Station façade improvements.
